Click, Click

While in Alaska, Doug has tried his hand at photography. Here are some of my personal faves... (they've been condensed, so they aren't as cool on the blog)

Alaska IS the Biggest State

I don't know why Texans are so proud of themselves. Alaska is the biggest state...and everything in Alaska IS bigger!

Karl and Dougs Day-Out

Wednesday Karl and I had a planned charter halibut fishing trip canceled, due to wind in the Sound creating 7 foot seas. So instead we did this... I would elaborate but i believe these pictures explain our day so much better :)
Two Trumpeter Swans

Can you find Doug? (Bridal Veil Falls--actually, it's Horsetail Falls; it was misnamed)

Our hiking partner on Solomon Gulch four mile hike.

Another bear? Perhaps the same one?

Brown bear watching over duck flats in Valdez.

Bear print at No Name Creek.

As you can see, the day was not lost! We had a great day playing in the wilderness!

Kayaking Excursion

Yesterday we went on a kayaking trip to Colombia Glacier, and it was one of the most amazing experiences ever! We had wonderful weather. It was sunny and warm, and the glass was clear as glass. Even the guide said it was a special day!
The water was so glassy, which is apparently rare.

Yummy! Tastes like nothing! Doug is eating VERY old glacier ice!

The waterfall at the end of the trip! Beautiful!

Blazing through the water...

Colombia Glacier, one of the biggest in the world.

Sisters at the glacier.

Check out our getup!

Where's Doug?

Making out on an iceberg...

Looks like crystal.

Alaska: Day 2

Well, today we took the Ferry to Valdez (incorrectly pronounced "Valdeez" here). We saw some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen, as well as lots of wildlife! Here are some of the highlights of today:

Here is the first of many icebergs that we saw today.
They look like they've been dyed blue!
Can you tell what this is? It's a humpback whale! Or its tail, at least.-
Here is Colombia Glacier, the destination of our kayaking excursion tomorrow! It's HUGE!

Here are a couple of lazy sea lions. We saw a lot of them on the shore, but these were the funniest!

Our Voyage to Alaska!

Here we are on the airplane. Judy did so well on her first plane ride! Of course, she didn't want to sleep because there was too much to see--good thing Doug is the "baby whisperer"; he finally was able to put her to sleep.

Alaska

So, today we are going to ALASKA to see my momma and mooses (meeses? moosen?). It is going to be a very fun trip! We are going kayaking, sight-seeing, and fishing (well, Doug and Karl are), not to mention indulging in my mom's delicious home-cooking! Can't wait! We'll try to keep updates on our blog. Don't miss us too much!
